PARTY IDEAS: HOW TO HOST A SPA DAY FOR KIDS

Updated: Nov 1, 2018

Thinking of throwing an out of the box party for your girls? How about a spa themed party? Sweet smelling lotions, cute colourful manicures, and yummy treats: what better way to celebrate a special day? Here are some simple and helpful tips for turning your home into a relax and relaxation retreat! This party tip could also be a great add-on for a slumber party.

Invitations

You decide - call, text, paper invitation whatever is easiest for you just include the date, time, theme and dress code!

As for the dress code, it would be fun to have everyone arrive in their most comfortable, cutest and classiest looking pajamas to go with the theme! I highly recommend wearing a bathrobe!

Here are some invitation card ideas to get you going:

Spa party menu

Keep it simple by setting up a salad bar and a beverage station but a classy tea party set up with cakes and biscuits would be perfect too!

One of the things we often see in spas and nail salons are refreshing cucumber water. So why not amp up the spa vibe by making a jug of it! Not only is this simple recipe yummy, but cucumbers look oh so pretty when sliced and placed neatly in a pitcher of water and ice.

Slice a cleaned, peeled (or unpeeled depending on your preference) cucumber into 1/2 inch slices.
Combine cucumber slices in water, and type with ice. Allow to marinate for at least an hour. (For best results, allow it to marinate overnight in the refrigerator.)

The cucumber slices will float, so it’s important to top with ice to keep them submerged.

You can refill the pitcher or travel bottle several times before it starts to lose flavor. You can even eat the cucumber slices if you like, but discard your batch after 24 hours.

Start the pampering

After your guests have had their bellies filled, this is where the spa party begins! Start off by handing out some rolled up warm towels like the ones given out by flight attendants!

Run the hand towels through warm water before serving. Instruct your little guests how to wipe their face and arms with it to open their pores and start feeling relaxed.

A spa day wouldn’t be complete without a tray full of spa products! Gather up a bunch of fun goodies to display, like toe separators, face masks, q-tips, sliced cucumbers, hand lotions and more. You could buy these from your nearby pharmacy like Watsons and Guardian.

Suggest your little guests to put on some cucumber slices over their eyes for 5 minutes and then ask how they feel, and show them the ways to apply a hand lotion like a grown up would!

Manicures and pedicures

Start by soaking their feet in a basin filled with warm water, scented soap and rose petals, or..

Mix together 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup cornstarch, 1 cup citric acid, and 10 to 20 drops of your favorite fragrance oil. Store dry in a plastic bag (do not use a sealable container, as the mixture produces gas!). Use one scoop of powder per tubful of warm water.

If you don't have enough basins or helping hands, the girls can take turns to assist one another and be a beautician for a day!

You may be able to find $2 containers at Daiso to be used as basin to soak their feet.

Children friendly nail polish are available in sets from kiddy palace, toys r us and some pharmacies. They are child-safe and washes off easily with soap and water. But if the parents are ok with REAL nail polish then don't forget to have lots of nail polish remover at the ready!

Have your little guests take turns applying nail polish on one another and let their creativity roam free! You can also prepare cups of colourful glitters and some stickers for them to decorate as they wish.

Remember to lay lots of towels on the table surface as things can get messy!

Facial station

The face needs some pampering too! Follow this easy banana mask recipe below and have the children paint it over their face with some paint or makeup brushes.

Honey Banana Mask
In a blender, combine 1 cup plain yogurt (room temperature), 1 medium banana, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 drop of blue food coloring. Apply to the face with a brush, avoiding the eyes. Leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat skin dry.

Movie night

What better way to end a relaxing spa party than with a movie session before calling it a night!? Play some classic Disney movie and let the children calm down from their day of activities. Some movies I'd highly recommend are the 90s ones like Hook, Matilda, The Parent Trap, Mrs Doubtfire, Richie Rich and more!

Have some snacks ready as they might get hungry again. For an extra sweet time, book Mr Egg's cotton candy machine! Made with top quality and halal certified ingredients from USA, our cotton candy will be the top hit at your child's party!

At only $150 an hour or $180 for 2 hours, you will get free flow amount of cotton candy in flavours and colours to choose from!
